Hair extension care guide
Extensions no longer receive oil from your scalp, so everything they keep — softness, shine, movement — comes from your routine. Cared for well, a set lasts far beyond its guarantee — especially in a coastal climate, which is why we give this routine to every client who wears hair extensions in Marbella.
Washing
- Use sulphate-free, silicone-light shampoo and a hydrating conditioner
- Wash downwards in the direction of growth; never pile the hair on top of your head
- Keep conditioner and masks away from the tape or bond area
- Two to three washes a week is usually enough
Brushing
Detangle at least twice a day with a soft-bristle or loop brush. Start at the ends and work upward, holding the hair above the attachment point so you never pull on the bond.
Heat and styling
Always apply heat protection and keep tools below 180 °C. Avoid direct heat on tapes, bonds or weft seams. Air-dry where possible and finish on a cool setting.
Sleeping and swimming
- Sleep with the hair fully dry, braided loosely or in a soft plait
- A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction dramatically
- Rinse immediately after chlorine or salt water, then condition
Salon maintenance
Book maintenance every 6–8 weeks so attachments can be moved up as your hair grows. Removal and reinstallation should always be done by a professional.
